Power Brake Booster Vacuum Leak?

If it wasn't for bad luck....I wouldn't have any luck at all.

For weeks I've been dealing with a fast idle, 1100 RPM, changed the IAC valve, wiring, ECM etc; also checked for vacuum leaks, finally I'm getting a loud hiss when the brakes are applied, sound is quite loud under the dash. So any similar problems experienced will be appreciated.....possibly my check valve may be the problem, one's been ordered and will arrive in two days. What are the odd's of it being something worst, like the booster drum itself?;shrug .

It is the brake booster. It's not too bad a job if your a midget with rubber joints.

It's the brake booster, mine went out earlier this year and it took me a few hours to replace it. It's not hard replacing the booster, there are only two nuts holding it in place. But you have to remove the master cylinder first, which isn't difficult but adds to the work.

It took me so long because I had to lay upside down on the sill or the seat to gain access to the bolts from under the dash. I couldn't stay that way for too long because the blood would rush to my head and I would get dizzy!:L:L:L

Not hard work at all, just tedious. I got a rebuilt unit with a lifetime warranty from my local Murray's Discount auto for $110. Not much considering the cost of other Vette' parts.

GA DAY MATE !

WELL, THAT AUSTRALIAN POWER BRAKE BOOSTER IS ON THE WAY...I DID REPLACE THE CHASE VALVE, IT STOPED THE HISS BUT THE BRAKE IS NO LONGER POWER, POWER ASSISTED, OR POWER BOOSTED.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Lance,

If you could please turn the caps off the next time you post. Having all caps on implies that you are yelling.

Thanks,
