Have any of you had this? turning left is smooth as a baby's butt. but whenever I turn right, when the car is first started and for just a little bit after , it's as if there is no power steering. it gradually goes away after a short time but comes back with every start up. I did a quick visual inspection and didn't see and fluid leak. Any suggestions?

I have seen that refered to as morning sickness on the forum. If you do a search there have been a few threads on the subject. Seems if you change the fluid to synthetic and add an additive it generally goes away. Good luck.:)

:w
I reread your post. I see it is only in one direction, not sure if that is the same problem.

Check your steering fluid with the engine running. If you see metallic swirly looking clouds in the reservoir, they are falling down into the hoses causing a clog when you let it sit overnight. Try changing the fluid to see if it helps, otherwise a new steering rack may be in your future.

Chances are either your pump or the rack is failing, however, I'd flush then bleed the system per the Service Manual then road test.

I'm finding out very quickly that you really are married to a corvette because she shares your wallet. lol. I'll give the flush a try this weekend and hopefully i can get out of it cheap. I am getting the exhaust done next week(removing cats, true duals, and magnaflows) so I am hoping i don't have to replace the pump or rack.

thanks for the advice, i'll give it a shot this weekend

I still find it odd it only happes when I turn right!

You might try some Lucus power steering reconditioning fluid, it will cure morning sickness, and save some money till want to change the rack/pinion. I works, put in my steering pump over a year ago and still going strong....
