When I start the car the unit will not come on until about 30 seconds to a couple minutes later (no power\no display.) Then sometimes, when the unit is on and working, the until will just lose it’s power and shut off (no power\no display). I will check again, but I don’t have any codes… well none for HVAC anyway.
I contacted the guy on ebay that fixes these units for like $50 but he doesn’t think he can fix this problem. He says it sounds like a grounding\power issue. Which I agree. Unless you guys have another idea of what it can be.
Also, where is the grounding point for the A/C\HVAC unit?

I agree it is a ground issue I believe. My car did the same thing. They changed the head unit and it was better, but it still wigs out sometimes. No where near as bad but it still does it.

I find that I go through belts about once a year. I think they are slipping and that causes some of my electrical gremlins. It is noticable when the car is at an idle, once I get the RPM up all is fine.

I change the belts and things are better and about a year later, it starts to get worse.

HI there,
Power and grounds are most critical for this unit.
Fuse 27 in the passenger toe board is your main power into the control head.
The grounding point is at the passenger side A pillar, near the floor, which has a package of about 8 ground wires all running into a connection and bolted to the frame.
I would seriously inspect for loose terminals at the rear of the control head, and also that ground.
If you remove the passenger side sill cover, you will see the ground source that I am speaking of.
Make sure its nice and tight and no corrosion.
