Yep, as soon as I got home I checked the bathroom mirror for bloodshot eyes. :D

It was great to see you both today.

Bob are you going to do the black out of any areas prior to buffing it? If you have alot to blak out I wouldd suggest doing prior to the finall buff

Larry,

If you're referring to black paint, the stinger is done.

Or, are you talking about the guide-coat which we did at the primer stage?

Redder is better?

:D The only way we could have got it redder, Ken, was to sacrifice a goat. :D
I'm surprised they want to buff it out so quickly! It looks absolutely beautiful; simply stunning. Congrats!!

You know I was studying all the pictures thinking to my self

Self thats a lot of red

and then saying

self probably no ones going to notice the bigger fenders

but I just never said to my self that stuff supposed to be black.

Sorry for not paying attention.

Looks good 67.Why only one coat of basecoat, dont seem like enough.

Paintdaddy,

You are right. There were two. I breathed in so many fumes over the last two days that it all became a blur.....but I'm feeling better this morning.

I corrected my mistake on the post from yesterday. I was thinking about the acrylic enamel on the underside.

The "artist".

As soon as the car is home, I'll be identifying the painter, his shop and location for those in Ontario who want amazing work on their car. Right now, I don't want a stampede to see the car. :D

Bob,
The car is really looking great! I know what you mean about the Elephant engine, I got to figure what color I am going to call the red on my 59 so I din't have to admit that it is Viper Red! LOL

I have been thinking about puttting all the reinforcements and brackets back on the underside of the 59 after it is done, and decided to use some aircraft high-shear fasteners instead of the original style rivets. If you have never seen any of these fasteners, you may want to take a look at them for that real high tech look! They are a fastener that has a rivet style head on them with a threaded shank. A colored, anodized, nut installs on the backside and the hex portion shears off when the right torque is reached leaving just a nice little colored ring on the bottom side of the fastener. There is a small internal hex in the center of the fastener that you hold with a allen wrench to keep the fastener from turning while you tighten the nut. This fastener avoids any impact riveting on the car and really makes a beautiful looking installation. It is nothing you would want to use on an original car, but on a car such as yours or mine they are really neat. I used to work in the aircraft industry, and we used these fasteners on all high stress connections.

Bob,
Here is a link to a web page for the Hi-shear fasteners if you are interested. The fasteners really look trick when installed, and are widely available from vendors that sell aircraft fasteners.

Thanks for the link, John. I riveted everything underneath right after the underside was painted, just before the topside was sprayed.

That red is awsome, I can't wait to see the finished job!
sunglass sales will be going up wherever you take it:cool
