I just installed the cross shaft bushings for the upper control arm from Energy Suspension on my '96. These are bushings 3131 & 3133.

I noted that without grease the aluminum sleeve that is slid onto the shaft prior to installing the bushing has quite a lot of slop on the shaft. Once greased it felt snug but I worry about wear down the road 20 ~ 30k miles. Once the grease is pushed out or dried up the inner diameter of the sleeve will be riding on the cross shaft with no way to add grease yielding metal on metal wear. It seems like using Energy Suspension bushings for the upper shaft is a short road to a ruined cross shaft.

How long will this grease last ? Am I doing this wrong ?

[Edit... 1/13/09]
I just figured out that this is how the orignals were installed so I guess it must work ok.
Still though, I wonder why it doesn't wear out quickly...

thanks
