2.59 ratio= 1turn on the wheel and 2.59 turns on the shaftslrvette said:Thanks for all your input, guys. I think I'm gonna have to jack the car up and rotate the tire. I have a feeling the rearend has been changed. After looking at it I noticed that there is some writing on the bat wings and has "1994" hand written on it as if it were a junk yard part.
Just so I know when I rotate the tire one full revolution and count the amount of times the driveshaft turns can I assume that if it turns 2x that its a 2.59 and 3x- 3.07?
What it had in 84 and what is in it now very well may be different.85vette said:The '84 and '85 automatics had 2.73 rear gears.
First year for 2.59 was 1986.

Like I posted earlier the only way to know for sure is to jack it up and check it. Otherwise you are just speculating.
Sorry the way I read it he wants to improve the performance.85vette said:Possibly, but the original question was did the '84 have for stock gears.
