Radar detector location and installation

I know there are year old postings somewhat related to this topic, but I just bought a V1 and I would like suggestions on this subject. Where should I mount it and how should I install it.

Methinks I should go ahead and hard wire it in and since I bought the "concealed display" that fits in my cig lighter, I would like a better location to put this too as my shifter (6 speed) comes damn close to the display.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Sorry I can't remember which and right now I'm just too tired to hunt through a stack of magazines, but one of these mags-Corvette Fever, Vette or Corvette Enthusiast, has detailed instructions on how to do this. If you've got a moment, you can check the archives on the mag's website and keysearch with V1 or Valentine and the article should pop up. Makes for very interesting reading.

If I find the right mag, I'll relay the info to you unless a fellow CAC member can hook you up faster.

PS - These instructions WILL NOT work for a 2004. In the newest Corvette the General did NOT install the accessory plug as pictured in these instructions

I bought this mirror mount (had to custom tweak it for my C4) and have the V1 hard wired . Highly recommended!
