Rear Axle Identification number location...

I just discovered this while looking for something else:

People are always asking about what axle ratios with which their C4 is equipped. Sometimes an option code list is missing from the car and you are unsure of the ratio. Well now that you have this information, you can go under your fourth-generation Corvette and see for yourself what your axle ratio is by checking the laser-etched numbers on your differential carrier.

I just hope it's legible, but you should get the idea.

I have the same page in my repair manual, I have never been able to find the laser etched info on my rear axle though. Maybe it's there but just not clear. I did find a tag, a yellow piece of tape on the left side of the rear end carrier, that has a code on it for the rear axle ratio.

I think that applies only to the later C4's.

My 96 has it plain as day, but my past 91 didn't have it to the best of my knowledge...
