The turn signals on my 76 quit working,so I changed the bulbs, flasher,no luck...got underneath and cleaned the ground drivers side rear...turn signals started working...turned headlights on...now both filaments in the drivers side bulb are burning...no turn signal on drivers side rear when headlights are on,and obviously no brake light(on all the time)...I'm guessing the only ground for the rear harness is the one I cleaned, and it is working fine...I took off the ground wire and the brake light filament went out...I don't know what to try next...I'd sure appreciate any and all suggestions...thanks!

This morning all turn signals stopped working...wiggled the wiring under the passenger side dash and they are working again now...still no rear drivers side signal with headlights on and both filaments lit on drivers side rear...?

Well,I decided to start throwing parts at it...went and bought another taillight socket...not the problem...now I have NO turn signals when the headlights are on...guess I'll try to find a headlight switch and a turn signal switch...

Did you check the fuses??
If they are OK,you may have to start checking where the sources of the power supplying back from where they originate with a test light to find why there is no power for the directionals. it is tedious but necessary... good luck

Thanks,Bill!Fuses are all good...turn signals are working again except when headlights are on...they work fine with lights off...when headlight knob is pulled out to first notch(parking lights)the turn signals slow way down...pulled out to headlights, all turn signals cease to operate...?

You know,I thought of the brake lite switch this morning...seems like when I bought the car ten years ago,I replaced it...may be time for a new one...thanks,Bill!

Brake lights and turn signals are the same filament/ wire as the turn signals....FYI:)

Yeah,I know...and that is the filament that lights up when the headlights are on...with no turn signal or brakes applied...but only on one side...drivers...well,I couldn't get the switch off just now,the nut on the front is too tight...it will have to wait until Monday...

Thanks,Bill!
