Hi there,
I've just recently installed a composite rear spring on my 72, and the ride height increased dramatically. I've switched to 8 inch bolts, but I'm still about an inch higher than stock height. Some people have gone to 9 inch bolts, but others have said this is a bad idea.
Another option I've heard about is moving the center spacer from the top of the spring to the bottom, or reducing its thickness. But I don't know what the spacer is for, or why it's on the top. Cushioning? Insulation? (The car isn't here, so I'm not even sure what the spacer is made out of.)
Can that spacer be moved or modified?
As an alternative, if I do change to 9 inch bolts, can I put them in upside down so the extra thread length isn't hanging down?
Thanks.
