Rear wheel bearing play

Can anyone advise me please. When the rear wheel bearings are good and correctly adjusted ( 1 to 7 thou end float) can any play be felt when the wheel is rocked from side to side? (driveshaft disconnected, car off the ground).

I can detect a small amount of play in my bearings and wondered if this was normal or I need to take a look.

I believe that with the half shafts removed that If the measurement is less than .010 inch, and the wheel turns smooth, with no noise or binding, the bearings are okay.

Thanks for that I have decided to replace the bearings for my own piece of mind
