BUZZ??

Hello all. Hope everyone is doing well. I have a buzz coming from the dash area that sounds like it could be the head lamp warning buzzer. It comes on and stays on when the head lamps and dash lights are on. If you turn the dash lights all the way down it goes off. The previous owner says this could be related to a ground being lose in the rearview mirror light. Does this sound correct? If so or if not how would I go about tracking this problem down and correcting it? I'm not the greatest with electrical work so be gentle!!

It does sound like a ground issue, because it is backfeeding when the lights are on.

You need to go from nose to tail and check all the grounds out that are related to the lights. If you remove, clean, and re-attach them you should fix the problem. There is no easy way to do this, but the actually removing, cleaning, and putting back on is easy. Taking the time to locate them and do it is the pain in the butt part.

-if and when you've found the electrical-grimlin offender, -do let us know here, as its indeed one of those pesky items that can drive one bonkers; --just recently I discovered a pesky low-drain problem to be a passanger-door courtesy-light plunger-switch which was apparently replaced by one which was a subtle 1'8"-shorter than necessary (even though they looked to be virtually identical at a casual-glance); -hence, the circuit was being left on when the door was closed. Don't know if this has any direct bearing upon your circuit phantom, but you can simply disconnect the switch like I did in trying to trace the source of the problem (see if it happens to fix it); and as a matter of fact, what do we need those damn buzzers for anyway, ---I say to hell with all buzzers and deem that they simply be disconnected and forgotten, -so that good men like you can get on with their life, and better attend to their woman for gods-sake!!! -Bob vH
:eyerole :eek :( :L ;shrug

Thanks guys. I got the buzzing to stop...I had to go in and wrench on the rearview mirror light switch, which was broken, and I got it turned off but I still have a drain somewhere?! Lord knows, so that is why I am pulling in the expertise of Rick the wiring genius. He's an installer and fabricates stereo systems so he can find the gremlin!! I'll keep you updated though!!
