just finished the rebuild on 85 tpi engine l98. All went pretty good ,just a couple of bugs, hope you can help. stock rebuild except for flat top pistons, roller tip rockers and mild perfomance cam. I am having trouble with a surging idle. Im wondering if the cam could be the problem, the lift is 258 int and 280 exh with the lobe c/l at 104. Im wondering if this can give the idle problem, and if maybe a new chip can help. Im also getting a code 43 when I punch it and wonder if this may cause the idle surge . Any help is appreciated. thanks

One of 2 things...either the knock sensor has gone bad or the connector is loose or broken. Mine was doing the same thing so I replaced the sensor. Then it would set the code and SES light when on the hiway. So I got a new connector from the parts store cut the old one off and spliced in the new one....no more code or ses light.
