Question: Redline Shutdown

Recently purchased a 2014 Z51 with about 13K miles. Just yesterday I accelerated in 2nd gear to about redline and I noticed it seemed like the engine suddenly dropped off for a split second.

Is that normal and is it to keep the engine from going past redline?

If you bumped into your rev limiter, then yes it is normal.
