Help! Removing lower console

Trying to remove the center console on a 69 with astro ventilation. I'll be darned if I can figure out how to remove the 'close' knobs from the astro ventilation controls. The assembly manual shows screws through the face where it says 'close'. My knobs have a hole underneath the face with some sort of circular metal fastner but isn't an allen screw or anything else I recognize. I'm sure not making much progress being stuck on the very first step. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!ad

The vent knobs have tiny allen head screws holding them on. You may need to clean the heads to get an allen wrench in there. It's also possilbe the heads have been stripped by a previous owner.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I'll try an allen wrench as that would make sense. Right now they are all taped up since I am refinishing the console. I ended up removing it with the knobs attached (what a pain). If I can get them off it will make reassembly a lot easier. Thanks again. bob
