Repairing cracked clear top

Can this be repaired? I bought a used clear top for my 2005 C6. FedEx damaged (and paid for) the top in shipping. It's a small piece that has cracked off the front right. Its maybe 2 inches at the most. I could go with it as is and unless you got right up on the car you couldn't notice the missing corner. But it's right in a spot where there is enough of an opening for the wind to come in and it gets loud.

I tried acrylic glue, and those plastic repair with infrared light repair glues and nothing seems to work. I don't need it to look pretty as its so small but I want to use the roof panel and not purchase a new one. Any suggestions for how to repair this?

Have you tried epoxy? Seems like epoxy will work on acrylic tops.

Not a fan of the polyurethane glues.....too flexible and horribly messy.

Epoxy was the first thing I tried and it didn't bond. I think there is some sort of covering on the acrylic that keeps the different glues I have tried from working.

I tried superglue, an epoxy glue, the ultraviolent plastic weld stuff and Weld-On 4 Acrylic Adhesive. I left all 4 to dry and set for multiple days and so far nothing has worked. It doesn't take much for the repair to fail.

Maybe it'll work, and maybe it won't, but it's definitely something
you can try. You could keep building up the repair as much as necessary
and when it's done, sand off the excess where the top meets the frame or
weather seal. If you DO try it, post up the results so others in the same boat
will know if it works or not. Above all, have fun..........

Tom, that's what I thought when I stumbled across the youtube video.
My initial thought was "HEY!, That might be just the thing that the convertible
drivers could use to "re-glue" their back windows to the tops, and then I
remembered this thread and decided to post. I would REALLY be curious as
to whether this would work on a convertible window, and if AV8R has any success
with it on his repair.....................

Quick update. Thanks for all the responses. I've been away on a trip and haven't been able to try any of your suggestions. Yesterday I went out to try the superglue and baking soda trick and I seem to have misplaced the broken part. I am looking around for it and will advise when I find it. Got another trip this week and am hoping to get it set before I leave so it has 4 days to cure.

I found the missing part last week and was able to give this a try.

You rock!!!! It worked! And its bomb proof.

I had to layer it but I was able get the parts to stick together. It bonded almost immediately.



It doesn't look perfect up close......




But just a few feet away you can't tell!

I don't feel like I rock (I was just passing along someone
else's trial and findings), but thanks for saying I do! Makes me
feel good to know that I helped a fellow Vette owner, and that
the info I passed along was "good". Keep building it up, then
use some small files to reshape it. Good to go .
