Because of their being to loud + emitting to much INTERIOR RESONANCE i,ve decided to just replaced my magnaflow LT1 chrome mufflers with the orginal OEM mufflers. now iam in the process of buying a set of BORLA LT1 mufflers.
Question: are these mufflers just as loud + resonate as much as the MAGNAFLOWS do? my goal is to eliminate the interior resonance so that i can enjoy my newly installed $1000 stereo system, will the borla,s do the trick? or should i buy the Dynomax Super Turbo LT1 mufflers: they claim their LT1 is a quiter muffler?
your opinions will very much appericated.
thanks boonie

LOUD

I had the dynamax. They sound better than stock, but not really loud inside. I wanted more sound so I switched to muffler elems. That is the music I like best. Factory Bose still can crank out enough to hear.

John,

I did order those eliminators from Cor. Central. Someone at the drag strip was tellling me they are not mandral bent; however, I wouldn't think there is much of a bend at all. Looking at the muffler version (not the eliminator), there's just the oversized diameter pipe at an angle to slip over the exhaust pipe after it's cut.

Do you know if yours are mandal bent?

I have dyno max super turbo mufflers and a Dr. Gas crossover and have no resonance and it wont drone you to death.

i bought borlas and must admit the resonance is a bit much, although very deep at the tips. ive heard that an x pipe should help some.

The last time I was Vette-shopping (a couple of years ago), I test-drove a 96 LT4 with the 2.75" Borla cat-back system. I was surprised how QUIET it was. I noticed no resonance, even on the freeway (but then I didn't take it on any long interstate drives, and I had the windows open). I liked the tone quality ... more "throaty" than "raspy".

I have run Borla 3" stainless exhaust from manifold to muffler and love the sound. There is no interior noise to speak of, of course I sound proofed the interior. Very easy to do.
Remove interior and line the inside with duct insulation from Home Depot. 1/4 " sticky back foam with an aluminum cover, the foam is gray, available in various widths, I got 16" wide and covered the interior and filled the cracks with aluminum tape for good measure. Then I made another layer of another kind of duct insulation which has bubble pack sandwiched with aluminum foil. Now the car is quiet and a bunch cooler in the summer....

I payed $50 for a mufler shop to cut my muffs off, coustom bend a set of pipes and put the origonal tips back on.

Looks great stock, and sounds awesome, all for only $50. I laugh at all the expensive exaust systems and fat import muffs being sold out there.

Now my vette sounds like it was ment to. Mufflers? What mufflers!
