Replacement power CB antenna

Hi there. My '79 has the original am/fm/cb setup with the power cb antenna. The original cb antenna is long gone and I now have a ACDELCO replacement tri-band antenna part # 12355706 waiting to be installed. I realize that the antenna differs in appearance from the original such as the mast has the SWR "adjuster" at the top rather than having the coil load located midway on the mast, but I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has installed one of these. If so, is the CB reception similar to the original? I understand that the bezel is also different but I am more concerned about how the antenna transmits and receives CB transmissions.

I finally, after 15 years , repaired my stock antenna.The nylon cord broke so I replaced it.The power antenna now goes up and down as it should and I was wondering the same thing...Does the CB work ?....I got out on the thruway and barked " breaker 1-9 for a radio check ".......In response I heard "Ya, we hear you loud and clear"....Needless to say I was ecstatic.I love the CB on the highway and yes it works great with the stock set up.....Look for mkapp7879.He may have what you need...He's all over this Corvette Action Center board.He knows alot about the power antennas and probably has the parts you need. Look in the C3 parts for sale forum. BTW, I have the original optional power antenna and radio w/CB.

I happen to be on the fence about whether or not to pick up the model 12355706 for my 82CE. I recently purchased a GM Delco factory radio w/CB. Did you ever get it installed on your '79 ? If so, how does it look? Is it a four section mast? The Late '79-82 Power antennas w/CB are nearly impossible to find.
