not sure why multiple posts were happening....but I was trying to ask how to replace my ash tray cover on a '96. The coating peeled off the old one. I see the one bolt that holds the panel around the shifter down and I know there are tabs on the front of the panel that lock it in, but something else is snagging it and keeping me from getting it out far enough to get where I need to be. The back of the panel is locked down pretty tight.

You have to remove the center consoul and the bolts are under the furry carpet in the glove box.Remove the carpet or furry stuff ,you will see some ovil plastic pieces remove all I think 4 of those and the screws arer under neath.

First remove the screws that hold on the door of the center console then remove the screws in the center console. Under the cup holder there is one more screw. you may have to remove the rubber liner for th cup holder to find the screw.
