Replacing my Exhaust

Have a 1998 Coupe and almost everything is original. The one exception being the wheels and tires I put on it when I purchased it. Bought it in the Fall of 2012 and still had the original tires and wheels. Only 6,384 miles on it when I bought it. One owner.

Now, this coming Spring, I'd like to replace the exhaust system with something that has the chrome or stainless tips vs. the black, stock ports the '98 came out with.

Bottom line...................anyone have any suggestions, thoughts, experiences, or ideas on what would be a good replacement?

I've done the standard checking and pricing on the internet but still have doubts and 2nd thoughts about almost everything I've checked out.

In advance, thanks, for any and all help you guys offer.

Something I do when researching trinkets for the Vette is lots of time on Youtube. I still have the original exhaust on my '04, and when I was thinking about what I'd replace it with, if I would, I watched tons of youtube videos and reviews. Everyone has different views and opinions, tell ya about the pro's and cons they have, what they dealt with pertaining to their set up, etc...

I love the way my exhaust sounds, so decided that is one thing I will leave as is. But, to see other cars, with other accessories, how they sound and look, youtube does wonders for me.

I go there before making a decision on anything, from making broccoli cheese soup to fixing a problem with one of my spreadsheets to what leaf blower to buy (it's a sin to dry your car with a towel ya know). Just an idea.

I agree with going online to watch videos and it gives an idea but hard to tell the actual volume of sound or the interior sound and resonance. I have a GHL system on our 2001 and a Mid America X pipe. There is some resonance in the car about 1500 rpm but it is not too bad unless your right there for a long time. The exhaust sound behind the car is very nice, a deep throaty sound much like the old muscle cars. At cruise on the highway the sound is pretty quiet and not objectionable at all. Perfectly good for long 10 to 12 hour drives and no drone. I have had on the car since it was less than a year old and there have been no problems with the car at 57000 miles now.

One of my friends put a Mid America system on his car at Funfest last year. Don't remember exactly which system it is but it is pretty quiet, not too much more than stock at idle, not really load enough for me, and he said just slightly louder on the highway. I have not been in it to give an opinion. Both systems look good. Hope this helps.

I'd like to suggest and endorse the Corsa product line. I had them on my C5 vert, and I've got them on my '10 GS vert. You can't beat the quality of the product, and the sound of the "sport" sytems is perfect for me. Definitely go with an X-pipe while you're at it. You won't be sorry. :thumb

I have the Corsa Sport on mine. I had Corsa Sport on my 94, too. I can highly endorse the Corsa. They are expensive, but the quality can't be beat. I've been through their manufacturing facility and the quality isn't just on the surface. NO resonance, period, and it doesn't sound a lot different inside the car from a stock system (with the windows up), but step on the go pedal and she screams. If you want a little more sound go with the Corsa Xtreme. 6shooter has this system on his 01 and it sounds good, loud when he gets on it.

Warning about YouTube and other sound bytes - You can't hear drone.

Pretty easy thing to do for a C5. The subject has been discussed for years. I have a Corsa Pace Car system on my 04 with a X-Pipe.

This is what I had on my '04 as well, with the Tigershark tips... looked just like a C7 now that I think about it...:chuckle
