I have leaks comming from both valve cover gaskets on my '86 vette. The vette only has 5600 miles on it but they still need replacing. Anyway, I have 2 GM cork gaskets for the car. Do I just put them in dry or do I need to add some high temp sealant to both sides of the gasket? Thanks in advance for your help. :D

Rather than the GM gaskets, I'd suggest getting FelPro's steel-core cork gaskets. Summit Racing sells them; I used them on my 86 (with some gasket stuff - NOT RTV - it's a gel that stays soft. CANNOT remember what it's called... #&*&#^ senior moment). Took care of the leaks for good, until I pulled the covers for upgrades.

How did you manage to find an 86 with not even 6k miles on it? Mine's got 140k. Must have some of yours by mistake :) .

Ditto - Definitely use the felpro gaskets. There is no other better!

I used the fel-pro perma dry gaskets on my '85. I put them on dry and torqued down to specs. No leaks!

I bought this car from my parents a week ago and they have had it since new in '86. The miles are correct and actual. Just rolled 5700 today.

Love your avatar by the way!

Gasket DRESSING! That's the stuff!

With miles as low as that, I'd look at the NCRS questionnaire that's floating around the CAC. It wants answers about original parts, and you've probably got everything (down to the air in the tires :) ).

It's almost a shame to put mileage on it - but however you drive it, enjoy it!

BTW, I even still have the ORIGINAL Goodyear Gatorbacks on it.
