I just bought my first Corvette, a 1965 black coupe. I think it is nearly all complete and original with the exception of the engine which is a 1969 Camaro 327. I need a resource book, pictures, specs, exploded views etc., perhaps some type of an assembly manual. Since this is the first car I am trying to make original as possible I need more guidance than creativity. Can anyone recommend a good book(s)?

Thanks,
Al

The Factory assembly manual (A.I.M.)

The Shop Service Manual

M.F. Dobbins "Corvette Sting Ray 1963 to 1967"

Noland Adams " Voulume 2"

Tom

FYI - in case you haven't already checked, Ebay can be a good source for those books. I just got the Noland Adams Volume 2 for $29, including shipping.:upthumbs

Thanks guys. I just ordered the AIM & shop manuals from Gregs.

Thanks Tim but to be honest with you...I don't think she will ever be in a "Corvette Show" and I am not worried about her being judged as 100% original. She is going to be a weekend pleasure driver.

Al, I don't think I'm ever going to show mine either. But it really is fun and interesting to spend a few weekends going through the NCRS stuff (as minute as it is) and seeing just how far or how close your car is to original. Mine is definitely a driver, but just looking at all the stuff on it that matches the research that those folks have put togther is really interesting.

Welcome Al, I believe you'll find all of the books mentioned interesting reading, and I believe you'll find the AIM and Shop Manual the most useful, at least initially, for your purposes.

I've got a '65 factory air coupe, 4-speed, still pretty original mechanically, including 327 300 hp engine. Be glad to help you also with anything that I'm able to help with. I've owned this car for 30 plus years now, so I'm pretty familiar with most of it!

Again, welcome!:):beer

Ron,
Thanks for the info. Right now I am trying to get a photo of the post behind the drivers door. I think someone may have thrown some bondo at this but wont know until I see a factory opening. Do you have any pics you can email of the area from the striker plate up to the top?

Thanks,
Al

Just caught your post tonight, be glad to send you a photo in the morning as soon as I can get one shot.

:)

Al, here are the photos I promised . . . . Hope it's what you're looking for, sorry about the quality, it's raining, shot them in the garage with a trouble light for illumination.

Ron, these look just fine. The darkness might even bring out the detail a little better because of the shadows. I can see where some creative filling has taken place with my '65. Is it possible to take another a little higher uo tp the area just before the curve to the roof?

Thanks,
Al

Here are two more, though the quality doesn't get any better . . . .
Let me know if you need something different.
