I've never ridden in another Corvette, so i can't make an comparisons so i'm hoping my descriptions can make sense. Do all C4's have a rough ride as I experience over bumps and things. Is anyone familiar with Route 18 in New Brunswick, NJ? My Vette seems to get hammered thru there. I'll hit a bump and a loud bang thru the car followed by steering wheel jarring left and right. Its a real work out on my forearms.

I also "feel" a secondary sound from the front end after the bump as if the wheels or front were loose in some way.

I get the feeling of "flimzy-ness" from my car. I really dont push it normally, but i get the impression it could hit a bump and would send me flying.

I've asked my mechanic to look into it, but he basically said it is normal. I'm going to take it back to him soon anyway. I've had the shocks changed ~1-2 years ago.

I also may note I was in a minor accident 2 years ago. But I have a replacement hood and new front bumper. Could something have not been fixed correctly?

Would new tires help? I have 4 year old Michelin pilot sports and have been looking at replacing them soon anyway.

I really need some advice. I know its a sports car, but my vette does not feel tight or sturdy at all. I dont know how else to explain.

I would agree, something doesn't sound right. Instead of taking it to a general mechanic, have you taken it to a place that specializes in suspensions? I have a front end alignment shop near me that is really good about checking that type of thing. Just a suggestion here as maybe a new pair of eyes can figure out your problem.
