Rusty C5 Rotors!?

I have a stupid question . . . I was looking at used 'Vettes at the local 'Vette specialist the other day, and I saw this beautiful silver-gray C5 coupe for $21,899 (too bad I don't have the money). It looked to be in pretty good condition, except for the brake rotors . . . they were rusty. Is this just somthing that happens when you don't drive the 'Vette? Will it come off easily? Does this happen only on C5s?

It will happen on any vehicle where it sits and collects moisture all day and night. Driving scrubs the rotors with the pads. Zinc wash will prevent most of that rust.

vettepilot is right. They all do it-including motorcycles and that's a bummer as it's a big part of the visual on a bike. I want stainless 'floaters', but that's a little bit away ($) for now, x-mas and all.

I understand the concern with the "R" word, but rust forms on rotors in a moist climate in a matter of hours. If they get wet one day, chances are you will see rust the next day. This is normal and as the other posts have indicated, the rust will be scrubbed off the first time you apply the brakes.
