A friend is having a problem with the seat belt in his '04 coupe. Sometimes his driver's side belt will not pull out - it's as if it gets locked.

Any recent TSB/recall or other SB out about this besides the '97-'00 recal with the twisted webbing?

TIA

He is pulling it out smoothly. He says he had a similar problem on his C4 which there was a recall for. (He's got two ZR-1's and a 95 LT1.) He described it further as, "just sticks when pulling it out. and makes a clicking sound, after a few pulls its ok."

HI there,
It could be the retractor is not working correctly.
There is no TSBs for the 04 cars.
The twisted webbing recall was 00034 and it was up to 99 I believe.

c4c5specialist,

Thanks so much for your response. As always, your expertise is much appreciated. I'll let my friend know.

Have a good day.

Thanks for your help guys.. It happens randomly generally when I lean forward, or sometimes after it’s extended it won’t retract until after a few pulls.

Looks like a trip to the dealer

I get the problem of the shoulder strap "locking" on me from time to time. It seems to happen during acceleration, cornering, or a bump in the road which the car seems to think qualifies as one of the above two. I admit, it can be an annoyance, particularly when I go to look over my shoulder before changing lanes. The "locked" shoulder strap is usually resolved by simply leaning back in the seat until the tensioner is given some slack, and it releases the seat belt.

I haven't heard of an issue coming up as a result of the seat belt not retracting when you go to exit the vehicle- I routinely do the lap strap cinch, and even that hasn't given me this problem. The tensioner may simply need to be tweaked.

Let us know how this works out.
