C3-coupe/MercedesBenz-540K replica! Racing-SB-V8!
-the door-latch STRIKER-BOLT on my C3 driver's-door is quite worn (somone neglected to simply oil the lil'roller every few months) to the point that the door will not adjust owing to the slop in the 1/2"-diam.x1/2"long -Roller built-in to the Striker-stud. The GM-dealer Parts-dept's. only now carry a much cheapened($4.oo -no roller now) black/epoxy-painted krapola version of the originally Cadmium-plated properly engineered Striker-bolt. The hard-steel/Roller wears on the mild-steel shank of the Striker-bolt if a lil'dab of oil is not addressed occassionally, and eventually owners wonder why they cannot adjust their door-closing alignment satisfactorily via the normal simple procedure of loosening and repositioning the Striker-bolt; --its because the sloppy-roller prevents a proper snug-adjustment. A local (san diego) Corvette-shoppe is asking $35.oo for a good used one, which I believe are the same as for the same era Camero, --that a couple of years ago sold for $7.oo. Just wondering if anyone has discovered a source for these original quality Striker-bolts, --otherwise, I will go to a boneyard and get a good one off a back-door of an old Caddie-sedan for $2.oo (it's just the hastle involved in wasting half-a-day in the process). --Please advise.... ;help

They use to carry this item in the HELP section at Autozone. I have seen them also at Advance and some of the other discount auto parts stores. They usually run about $8 or$9 and have used them in past on other GM products and they do last quite awhile if you keep them lubed.

Your new G M #15013147 with metal roller:eek Hope this helps!

-Nope, you have falllen into the GMC-TimeTunnel, --the number you have thoughtfully provided is no longer viable for a Striker-bolt w/Roller, -read my original statement above, GMC no longer offers the quality Striker-bolt THIS NUMBER GETS YOU A BLACK-PAINTED PIECE OF KRAPOLA. And the aftermarket Parts-houses only sell a striker-bolt with plastic-roller for a Chevy-truck (and to large of shank-diameter); --come on get with it GearHeads, anyone have a real answer to this above clearly stated supply problem?? -BerlinaBob :bash :hb :nono

Door striker bolt -- response

Let me try to clear this up . First , it has not been over a month --- the check (personal) arrived Dec. 26th (post marked Dec 20 out of San Diego) . Today is Jan. 13th -- that makes it 18 days since I received the check . Second , since it was a personal check , I wanted it to clear before I removed and sent part . Third , we were gone until Jan. 3rd . When I returned home I received an e mail informing me that this part was no longer needed as he had found another locally(for 1.00) . Fourth , I was a little "put off" by this . This person was "in need" , as his posted request displays , and I offered this part to him for a price that even a wrecking yard would have charged more for just to cover the time to remove -- not to mention shipping and handling --- I thought I was "helping" this Forum member . Last , I have every intention of returning his money --- it just hasn't been a high priorty . Reguards to all , hope everyone has a great New Year , George

Hello George: -OK, good you are still with us; --please understand that if you would simply respond to your E-mail, you would avoid such confusion by something called "communication" my friend!!! Accordingly, will be watching my mailbox for your timely refund, as EcologyAuto-dismantlersCo indeed provided me with several (like new) of these out of production Roller equipped door Striker-bolts at $1.oo/ea.(requires a 1/4"-star-shaped allen-wrench to properly remove). The C3's door now closes in perfect alignment (brought door back-in about 3/16-inch)...
Sincerely, -Bob vH
