to service my auto tranny on my 94 C4 merely dropping the oil pan and replacing the tranny filter + new pan gasket then replaceing the trans fluid?

tranny service

That's basically it. Some details;
Be really clean and don't scratch gasket surfaces. Get lint free cloths for wiping out the pan. Get all the filings off of the magnet and put it back in the marked spot.
The rubbery gaskets (NAPA has them) are definitely superior.
The rubbery gasket requires no sealer. If you use sealer (like silicone) use very little.
There's a ring gasket around the spout of the filter (about 3/4" dia). Make sure the old one comes out or don't use the new one. Getting two of them up there prevents the screen filter from seating correctly.
Tighten the bolts correctly (forgot the torque spec). If the gasket is extruding as you tighten, it's too tight.
Good luck.
