can someone please tell me what this is and how do I fix it. About a month and half ago I trade in my 2001 for a 2005 Z51 with 32,600 miles. The other night I got into the car and it would not start. The display read Service Column Lock. It happened three times over the last week.

I read a few things on the internet but none of it makes sense. I understand that this is a common problem with the manual shift C6's but what I don't know is if it fixable and if so at what cost. I am not handy and I read that the dealers do not have a clue on how to fix it.

can anyone help!

SCL problems are common with C5 and far less common with C6.

If you are not a DIY and don't have the Factory Service Manual, I'd have your battery tested. If it's bad, replace it. A lot of SCL problems are caused by failed or marginal batteries. If your battery is good or you replace the battery with a new one and the SCL problems persist, you need to take the car to a service facility familiar with Corvettes.

If you are an advanced DIY and you have the Factory Service Manual then read the book on the column lock and diagnose and repair as necessary.

Good luck.
