I have a 1996 vette and the service tire pressure light went on. If this is ignored, will it affect the cars performance? (I do realize that this light is telling me that one of the tire sensors may not be working properly.)

It just will not be able to let you know your tires are low on air..
it should not affect the car, and it should not hurt anything...
It even says in my owners manual (p.89) that you can go to your dealer and have him permanently clear the LTPWS light out..

It even says in my owner manual that if your next to another car with LTPWS sensors and the other car has low air pressure it can make your LTPWS light go on..

Remember for the first 900 years you had to go out and actually check the pressure on the tires, the car didn't tell you;)

I'm having an issues with my LTPWS light (not the service LTPWS) it is always on when the car is cold and the tires have the correct pressure, but after you drive it a few feet it goes out.. I was not sure if that was normal, I was told (on these forums) that its not normal to always be on.. I may just go a head and permanently have mine cleared, I will go back to the old fashion way and use a Gauge to check my tires..
