I found this tool at a German flea market today and I was able to remove that stubborn lock pin in less than 2 minutes. It slips under the flanges on the forward edge of the pin. Just rock the pliers toward the front of the car and out it pops!

If you can find something like it I highly recommend it! Cost only $7, well 7 Euros.

Here is another view:

I think those are just slip-ring (?) pliers or snap-ring ?? Forget the exact name. The pointed tips go into the holes on the "C" shaped ring and when you squeeze them they will spread the ring open so you can pop it off. Should be an easy to find tool at Sears or auto parts store. (Maybe harder to find in Europe??)

I do believe that is what these are. But, unlike real ones that spread the ring when squeezed, these act like regular pliers when you squeeze them.

I have 2 different types.
One set has a pair that spread when squeezed and another that squeeze when squeezed.
I didn't like these much and bought another pair that has a switch on it to convert it to work either way.

One of those tools you use once every 10 years but you sure are glad that you do have it !!
