Shifter hard to take out of park

My wife can not get the shifter out of park if the Car is cold or has not been run that day, any solutions?

Difficult to get out of park

She should mash hard on the brake first, then push the button down on the shifter, then pull it into drive or reverse. Sounds simple but my '95 will NOT come out of park unless the brake is really mashed FIRST.

When you park the car, try setting the parking brake before you take your foot off the brake (after you put the car in 'park'). That way the car doesn't roll against the parking prawl in the transmission and cause it to be hard to disengage.
