Help! Shifter removal/install

Hello members, is there a faster way to remove 1978 corvette shifter. It just look so intimidating, I know it has to be a easy way.:ugh

Automatic or 4 speed? Automatic shifters can be removed from inside the car with the exception of the shifter cable on the transmission. 4 speed shifters have to be removed from under the car. The assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows both installations.

Thanks, It's an automatic shifter, How do you remove the transmission cable. At the shifter base the transmission cable run through the back of the base and it connect to the shifter lever?

You will need to remove the console side panels and the shifter plate in order to have access to the shifter.
