This is bad, bad, bad. My '86 was in a major accident where someone hit it on the drivers side, like running a red or something. The rear end is biased an inch and a half to the passenger side. The fiberglass has started cracking at the base of the weather strip on the passenger side rear hatch. The rear hatch has a spacer in it on the right hand side to straighten it out. All sorts of other little things. As soon as I get everything working like it should, it is down the road. Good thing I only paid 8K U.S. for a 64K mile machine. {Drives great though, tons of fun, and reliable} How body shops can get away with such shody workmanship is beyond me! I thought we had an extensive and expensive public insurance bureaucracy to look after stuff like this.

Man, that really sucks:mad I'd be more PO'd at who you got it from than the Ins. Co. (edit-or body shop) r:r Now YOU'VE got a moral dilema. I wouldn't want to be in your position. These cars are expensive enough to procure and maintain without having to take a hit like your looking at:( . I feel for ya. Keep us updated:TALK

hey there,
i feel your pain.this is why i dont take the carfax to seriously.a c5 owner i will not name, got rear ended, the other guy took off,my friend calls his friend at the body shop.friday night they fix the bumper and paint it.great job, however since it was 'under the table',it will not show up on the carfax,he can say the car has never been hit.this happens more often than you think.heres another example,my car is black, someone scratched the paint off in the parking lot,i'll be damned there is torch red paint under the black, they did a great job going back to black, but my carfax came up clean when i bought the car,i got lucky,it could have been worse.good luck with your situation,Todd.

This is common practice in Europe. Most people over here only have liability insurance so when they write off their car they are trying to get as much as possible for the wreck. Since the insurance company is not paying for the repair the car slips through the system and is repaired by an unregistered shop and then exported to another country with a clean title. Consumer protection in Europe is still in the conceptual stages.

2 years ago we bought a Mini for a parts car; the entire right side was missing/crushed along with the trunk lid and ½ of suspension. When the car arrived the title was Cleary marked, WITHOUT ACCIDENT HISTORY. The seller was proud of this and tried to gouge me for more money than the agreed price.

In Europe, ¨let the buyer beware¨, are words to live by.

Manitoba still has no mandatory safety laws, right? Nice in a way as the certification scams in Ontario can really cost you but it does prevent people buying crap and putting it on the road with safe cars. Your mis-alignment would never have passed a safety would it? I've been up through Gillam, Thompson etc. Walleye fishing with Manitoba Tel. Didn't someone up there just get eaten by a black bear yesterday?

Look at the latest Issue of VETTE MAG.
They are doing what you are asking.....or go online at their web site should show the repair......

Naw, RJ, he didn't get eaten, but he had the hell scared out of him. It was a 400 lb. black bear.
My question is, how can the rear end be over 3/4 of an inch? Isn't that just about phisically impossible in a 'vette? Anyway, it tracks straight, is a great driver, it's fun, and goes like stink. The car will drive forever, I guess. But I'm going to see if I can readjust the differential over. If a guy thinks about how the rear end is located, I dunno, it just doesn't make sense.
