Does an 81 have a smog tree (AIR manifold Tree assembly) on the passenger side or does it just a tube to the catalytic converter?

So there is a smog tree on each side plus the tube to the converter?

Yes thats right. The 'smog trees' are part of the exhaust manifolds themselves.

Interesting...none of my manuals or the AIM show that. So its an integrated system rather than separate assemblies.

You got it. And the 81 manifolds are specific to 1981 only. Very, very difficult to find if replacements are necessary. I bought an 'extra' pair on ebay for $150 about 2 years ago.

Clever move...can you shoot me some photos that would illustrate air injection feature. Also I see you have FE7...do you have a rear sway bar. I'm assuming your 81 is original...St louis build or BG?
