Spark Plug Replacement - Success!

, and for the record ASE certificaton is nice, but it isnt that hard to get. At least I didnt think so, I passed ALL of mine first time out. A1-A8, I have yet to take Advanced Engine Performance L1, but I scored 47 out 50 on Engine Performance so I can't be THAT dumb.
I have seen a lot of guys in the business that I wouldnt let near my lawn mower. I see three reasons for this: 1-A lot of people are just plain stupid. 2-The schools that teach this stuff stink on ice, read WyoTech. 3-Some of the guys from those schools didnt apply themselves and dont care about learning and doing the best they can.
OH, yes, I totally agree with you there.

ASE is really just a baseline test for beginners.

That is the PREREQUISITE to GM certification.

And yes, I too agree that NOT ALL technicians are bad.

Get to know YOUR TECHNICIAN and see for yourself.

You also have to watch out for the shop who jack the car up wrong. As you can/will get cracks/holes in the front of the floorpan, and dents in the rear of the floorpan if they miss the pinched wells. Or any part of their pucks make contact with the bottom of the floorpan. And that can/will cause seams and things to open up causing firewall leaks.

If they dent the rear of the floorpan in the right spot, it could cause your seat to lean towards the middle of the car.

I will be the first to admit I am very picky when it comes to racking cars. My Vette is the biggest PITA to rack, takes me about 10-15 minutes until I got it just right, so I am only on the pinch welds and touching nothing else.

I once saw a guy try to lift a Ford Ranger by the pinch welds on the cab. :duh

Last time I checked Rangers have a full frame...yet somehow he is still employed where I work..............I don't understand it either.

Hey Rogue, I am getting ready to do this myself on my 91. Just curious, I have not checked yet , but what about the front driver side plug, do you need to do the same to access that ??

The driver's side plugs are easy as pie. Even I can do them with my eyes closed! I'm joking but it's probably close to the truth. It's the passenger's side that are a total PITA because the AC, hoses, and all that other crap is there getting the way of your hands, wrenches, etc. I was only able to replace all the passenger side plugs near the firewall with a lot of cussing, twisting, and contorting of my hands and arms.

Like GMJunkie said, just remove the center fender (and rear if you want) and things get much easier.

Oh and you will need a spark plug wrench extention and a swiveling socket somewhere.

Now that I know the secret, I'm thinking of doing it again! :L
