spark plugs

Reminds me of the infomercials for "SplitFire" spark plugs - "I put SplitFire plugs in my car and it runs great, more power, better fuel economy, easier starting, blahblahblah..." Well, of course it did - any time you replace old plugs with new ones, regardless of brand, you'll see a difference; that's why SplitFire is under a consent decree from the Federal Trade Commission not to make any of those claims any more (along with countless other "miracle" products/additives/gizmos). The FTC required them to run blind tests under supervision to prove their claims, and there was no difference between their NEW plugs and anyone else's NEW plugs, vs. the OLD plugs in the test car. Then they got a choice of signing a consent decree or going to court, and they signed the consent decree and pulled the infomercials.

Spark plugs aren't rocket science (in spite of all the hype); what's most important is finding the right heat range your driving style and engine likes and sticking with it; once your plug readings are consistently the right color, you've found it. Construction doesn't mean much - but heat range does.
