What type radio do you have ? Is it a Bose Gold? or regular Delco ?

Ok you may or may not have bad speakers. They may SOUND bad though .:)

You have a receiver that runs those speakers behind the passenger side seat under the storage bin. Each speaker has its own Amp built in.
It looks like a little aluminum box with a heat sink on it. Check your connections there. Also, check for water, moisture buildup.

If possible try and swap the fronts with the backs for test purposes. Just to see if both speakers are truly bad.

As a last resort, several of the vendors listed here have rebuild services as well as replacement speakers. I guess you have checked prices already.

Check Ecklers, they seem to have the best prices for the speakers. This is coming from someone who has a stack of Corvette catalogs in his bathroom and reads them daily :thumb

However 500 is about right for the pair.

Welcome.

Couple more things .

Ecklers rebuilds them for 110 each.

Check the front to back fader on the head unit. It may need cleaning.

Just to add, I hit the savage yards around here about twice a year!! Some Nissan Maxima's,Mazda's 626's & 929's,Some Fords,Camaro's,FireBird's,Caddy's,Chevrolet,GMC Trucks and other GM products have the same Speakers and Amps,Only the mounting housing is different!!:thumb I usually can get the whole set for $50 or less and then just change out the housing!!:thumb I buy allot of these cars and everything Must work before I put them up for sale!!:upthumbs

The place down the road from Eckler's does them for Eckler's and cheaper, too. :thumb

Call Doctor Don's............936-435-1811....www.doctordons.com

they restore Bose equipment, good prices. Do do as the other member advised about looking for loose connectors, etc.

Vette speakers

Your problem may not be the speakers at all. Each of the four speakers have their own amps in the speaker assembly. These amps are about the size of a pack of cigarettes. They are notorious for going bad. I just replaced all four of mine. They can sell for $200/300 per amp in corvette magazines. I bought mine on Ebay from a guy who rebuilds these things and puts much stronger resister in them so they don't ever go bad again. I paid $75 for each of them and sent my bad ones back to him. The system sounds great now. Bose has super equipment but they saw General Motors coming when they sold them these vette systems. Hope this helps!
