Starter Replacement lt1

Hello all,
Just removed my starter from my 1994 Vette, take it to Autozone for a test, and they tell me that it's bad...ie the rod in the starter came out, however it did not spin.

My question relates to whether or not there is a solenoid repair kit available for this AC Delco starter???? My Haye's manual says there is no kit. Also, this may not even by the solenoid, correct? If so, I know i need to buy a new starter altogether. Just would like to know the difference between a bad starter, or bad solenoid. Thanks for being a resource to us at home.

If the gear kicks out into the start position but does not rotate the starter is bad not the solenoid. The solenoid is what moves the starter gear back and forth.
