Steam Cleaning the Engine Parts

Folks, we have a home type steam cleaner. It is a small hand held, self contained unit. It runs with 220Volts A.C from the wall outlets at home. It is used to clean stains from floor tiles, etc. I believe it produces steam under pressure at some temperature. Would it be smart to clean some of the metal & plastic parts inside the engine compartment with that?
