Original GM #1052084 lube is NLA. Correct replacement stuff is said to be GM #12377985 (whitish-yellow in color, but not the same stuff as general purpose white lithium grease). Dunno what form GM sells it in, though. GM #1052182 is used in many GM steering boxes, but is said to be too light/thin for C1/C2
Corvettes, causing leakage.

Dr. Rebuild used to offer steering box lube (may still), their part #8800446. Try this link: http://www.docrebuild.com/dr-r-web/PS2.PDF

As a result of continuing field problems with leakage (due to heat from proximity to the exhaust manifold), GM changed from the original "special steering gear lubricant" to EP chassis grease in Corvette steering gears in the early 60's - check out the lubrication diagrams in the Shop Manuals.
