stock manifold to header options..

When I reinstal the 427 in the 68 I'm thinking of putting headers on it. Do they make direct replacement pcs that will hook up to my stock exhaust system that I just installed last summer.
The original manifolds are all pitted so I have to at least have to POR15 those to make them look good,

Im no expert but I think that there are some shorty or block hugger headers that bolt up to stock dounut style exhaust connections. I myself would only go long tube headers cause thats where the hp and torque increase would be noticed. If you go long tube that is for sure a custom fit. Someone else will know for sure on the shorty headers

The words "headers" and "bolt-on" are mutually exclusive; you'll need a muffler shop that can cut, bend, fabricate and weld.

No headers will be a bolt-on. You can use some undercar long tube headers that you can just cut the downtube to the correct length and weld it to the collector.

I don't know about POR15 but I recently painted my exhaust manifolds with Eastwoods exhaust manifold paint and was very satisfied.

My buddy has a '75 and we put this system on his 350 with shorty headers. It was all direct bolt on (albeit getting one of the bolts from the shorty to the collector to fit was a major PITA). But, besides that everything else fit up real nice. They say they have one for a 427.

You can't beat Jet-Hot coating for manifolds or headers. They have a cast gray that looks like cast iron before rusting. It also reduces underhood heat a lot.

McJacks makes a Header that the Stock Exhaust can bolt on to without any mods needed.

I've seen those but not sure they really add much to reducing back pressure. But then never have seen any dyno test results on them.
