When traveling along and running over some rough road, the front end feels like it is sliding. (1981). It really feels like I need new shocks and/or springs. Looking at the right spring, it appears to be compressed somewhat. Has anyone else had this feeling, and am I on the right track to replace the shocks and springs, or do I need something else.

I think that you are close, but I would take it to an alignment shop and have them look at it. Useually if the shocks are bad you will get a bounce or maybe even a vibration. I would think that the sliding feeling would be more of an alighnment problem. Have them check front and rear.........Hope this helps......Steve
