Hello everyone, I developed a problem this morning while traveling out of state in my 01'coupe. While cruzin down the interstate I heard what sounded like a rubbing sound coming from the r/r of the car. We pulled over and found a broken swaybar bracket on the drivers side. I jacked up the rear of the car and found nothing else out of place nor in a position to be rubbing on anything. Is the broken bracket my only problem?
The rubbing noise begins at about 30 mph and continues as long as the car is accelerating. The noise goes away when I get off of the accelerator. The pitch of the noise increases with the speed of the car but is not affected by the rpms of the motor. Is this just tire rub and I am being paranoid? Or something more sinister?
