What causes a fish-tail effect when both accelerating and decelerating under normal driving conditions? There is no clicking or thumping sounds that would indicate something is broken.

As 69myway stated in another similar post, check the condition of your rear trailing arm bushings and strut rods.see thread "81 Hopping Around".Welcome aboard red78.You will find alot of help here for your questions.

torque

I believe it is the torque the engine is putting on your rearend. Everything should be tight, but obviously something is not, so the rear is swaying back and forth according to the load from the engine and tranny.

Trailing arms could be the culprit, or the bushings and also check your bearings and the side yokes.
