Tach cable install question-67

1967 coupe, 1979 bought new.
I am installing the tach cable and it seems way too long. Maybe about a foot.. I looked it up and it should be 27" for a 67. Where does the cable route that 27 inches are needed. I hate to loop the cable, seems it should be shorter. Anyone run into this?? I looked in the AIM and it shows the cable going from the tach straight to the distributor with no loops. Thanks, Kurt
 
How does the cable get routed so that it not loop?? It must wrap around the wiper motor or loop under the dash?? Kurt

kobi67,

Mine goes from the back of the tach, along a gradual arc, through the upper firewall hole (that actually points across the car rather than forward/aft) and then down to the distributor. There are no loops, nor kinks.
