Could someone give me the steps to remove the tail lights on an 86 Vette. I need to remove to to paint the vehicle. Thanks in advance

There was a thread about this a while back...seems there are several ways to accomplish this...if your arms are not similar to a pro linebacker you might be able to reach up from the bottom to remove the lenses, also you can remove the lid for the gas tank, and then the rubber piece and reach in from the top.

Try removing the license plate and frame then go after the tail lights from there. You are probably going to remove them anyway.
This works on my 92. Then again, the 92 has more room back there than the 86.

I have an 89 and just removed the bumper. To get the lights out, each light has 2 nuts and remove the inside lights first. remove the license plate and you can get one nut from there, and the other from underneath. Once the inside lights are removed, you can reach from that hole and get to the outside lights......sounds easy, but then again, I'm not a linebacker, I have small hands. Good luck.
