Any bug/tar remover should work fine, then follow with mild soap or "quick detailer" or some other polish, then wax with favorite wax.

GM makes a great tar remover sorry I dont have the part # atm. Another product that I bet you have at home already that works very well is WD-40. I've used it many times w/o issues you just have to wash and wax the area again but thats true with any tar remover.

Motor oil. After all oil it is a component of tar.

I've done this job at least a hundred times. Use WD-40 and a soft kitchen sponge with the soft and rough plastic sides. I promise you the WD-40 will not harm any paint and the plastic rought side won't damage the clear-coat of the painted surface. If you even get something more tough to remove, try a little Mineral Spirits and use a credit card cut in half as a scraper. Again, the plastic card won't harm the clear coat and the MS is safe to use as well. :thumb

I agree 100%.........WD-40 is the best and easiest. I spray it on a clean cloth and wipe it over the tar and and let it soak in for a few min., then wipe the tar off. Then I wash the area with warm soapy water on a mitt, dry it...then rewax. 10 mins. total!!

I use mineral spirits or WD-40. Neither will harm the paint.
