I know this might be too specific (and rare) to get an answer <g> .....but I'll try anyway.

Does anyone know if the rear input ring shaft needle bearing thrust washer (not the tabbed one, the one towards the rear of the tranny on that assembly) is supposed to seat flat up against the housing? The Haynes manual (and my other one) simply say to use KY to hold it - but it looks like the thing will get crushed (because it would get caught between the low/reverse clutch and the input ring gear shaft...) if it's not seated on the base of that shaft.

thanks,
