Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

The car is packed and Europe awaits

Jack where is the race track from LeMans (proper)? I was trying to find it on Google maps.

I will remember that when my back is breaking !

Never slept in my 64 coupe when I had it, Jack. But the C5 is very comfy. :thumb

Thanks Tom,

I guess I will just have to keep well lubricated :L at night as to allow for more comfortable sleeping , yea ! right ....

Hope to lots of pictures, Some the drivers from the Corvette team may stop by the Corvette Club of France hospitality suite...Oh ...I forgot...they do have a hospitality suite...bar..food...who care where you sleep. But I should remember , I am running with a much younger crowd over here.

Cheers,

Jack.

ps my following on Facebook by Europeans is really something. They use it like we use forums, without the tech stuff, much more social. The distances that I have driven, just mystifies them. But then again, I drove to your town, I think about the struggles that small towns must face. Same in Europe, I travel the less traveled road, and you know, people are pretty much the same, family ,friends, town, cars...Blue highways my kind of road. I don't mind if you throw in a few castles.......

How do I know, you think I pay attention to where I am driving. lol....Tom I don't remember, as I really did not go into the town. You have to remember that much of the course is public highway.. with a grandstand and interior track portion. Look southwest of the town, you may find it , but you have to look hard.

Jack

I'll have a look-see and maybe I'll find it. Have a great time.

Weather problems Fight on Monday not Sunday

I will be in Europe on Tuesday not Monday as planned. Flight problems from Portland ME to Philly. Just have to drive fast to make the date of cake and coffee in Belgium.

Tuesday, I drive from Wezep , Netherlands, to Belgium for lunch with some hosts from last year's trip. Then on to Forges les Euax , small town in France , (hotel stop) . Wendsday, on to Le Mans.

Lots of activities at the track and town. Many photos to follow

Corvette Vagabond lives off of land (in France ? )

Hi,

I am in a small town just south of Le Mans. Staying for a few days with a group of NCRS members from the UK and Netherlands.

Jack Humphrey, of the NCRS US, is running a judging session, and today they are judging 3 cars.

Tom Falconer of UK has organized the Farmhouse Inn that we are staying at. La croix Joreau, La Croix Joreau.

Later , I am off to Le Mans to shoot pictures and meet the members from the Corvette Club of France, who have invited me to Le Mans.

I have been driving a wonderful C-5 for the week and I have to admit , it is fun to drive, AC , Auto and fast.

Some pictures of the judging workshop last night and the farm

Clutch Pedal Pivot Rod Repair

I had started out for NYC last week to join the Scandinavians in a send off of starting their Lincoln Highway Tour 2013.

As you recall, my pedal was heading left. Well about 3 miles away from home the pedal came off. Tow truck brought it back home and I was in my other car and off to NYC. I was fortunate not to have it break in the middle of CT or MA.

Once back home I took on the job of repairing the pedal. I ordered a new pivot rod and had it welded back on to pedal. The following pictures will give you an idea what it looks like to do the repair.

First you have to take out the seat and steering column 1/2 hour

You have to take off the clutch spring and cover along with the column hardware . You can see the column hole in firewall . Also notice the bolts that hold the master brake cylinder and two above hold the pedal assembly to firewall

Column out complete , do not take apart , just pull out after removing under cluster supports.

Parts laid out on table. column parts in order , pedal assembly

Broken pivot rod and replacement rod inserted in pedal

Original Capacitor for brake lights

Pedal installed into assembly

The bushings used are the plastic ones use also in the headlights and convertible top latch assembly. Just re grease and insert pedal pivot rod and re-clip

All done . Total time about 4 hours without rushing.

I missed them when they were in Ft. Wayne. I had to work. They sure like their Caddy convertibles. I can't remember when I last saw 3 '58 Buicks all together. Amazing. Love that '53 Olds Fiesta. I learned to drive in my parents '53 88 2 door.

Thanks for posting the slide show.

Europeans coming to Maine for a vist

Hello to all,

Sorry for lack of posts since I got back from France and the Le Mans race. I think 4 years of travel and posting just got to me. I had trouble sitting down looking at pictures or doing posts. I was driving my car every day when possible.

Good news, I am back in the saddle and will host 2 couples from Berlin , Germany. They fly into Boston, drive up to Portland , Maine, stay for 3 days, with me lending my car to them to explore the coast of Maine.

Matthias's parents where very kind to me on my first night in Germany, by letting me stay with them in their castle.

Here are some photos of my time with them. I will post more once they arrive. I am still waiting for a few of my US hosts to come up for a visit.

Nice parents

Matthias's 65

Frank's Bat mobile

I will let them drive my car along the coast of Maine

So cool, Jack! It's great to be able to "repay" those kindnesses afforded to us.

I think Matthias's 66 is really a 65. vents on the pillar behind the door give it away. :L Also 65 hub caps.

I should have know
