I have a ticking noise, sounds like a bad lifter. sounds like a lil chipmunk munchin on something in the valve cam cover, hmm is this difficult to replace?

When is last time you changed your oil? What is it's condition and level? I've seen lifter tick from just old black oil so...cover that basic first. Does it do it all the time or just hot or just cold?

I change my oil every 5,000 miles, i baby this thing, it was overheating a bit for a while but i fixed thats problem, since its louder from the top, could it be a fuel injector? Im doin research but it all sounds like a bad lifter

My oil is fine, I use Lucas high mileage with it, I just noticed it when I started it to show my friend last night, so far I only hear it at idle on a cold start for about 5 min, I havent driven it yet to hear if its louder, ill do that today. but like I said its louder below the passanger side long tube runner closest to the fire wall

Thanks

If you hear more at cold start up I would look for a exhaust manifold leak or if you could have a leak at the cross over section of the intake manifold where the exhaust go's to the EGR valve ask me how I know about this one LOL as the motor warms up lot of time the gasket will start to seal back up to a point.

If you let go to long it just get louder and louder and even if the motor hot it still be loud.

And you mite burn a valve when you shut the motor off cold air go into the motor it wont happen if they is a small leak but you need to get the leak fixed.
